Alex Jones: ‘Murdered Infowars Reporter Jamie White Was On Ukraine Hit List’

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones is claiming that “murdered” Infowars colleague Jamie White was on a Ukrainian “hit list.”

Austin Police have said White—shot and killed in his apartment’s parking lot close to midnight on Sunday, March 9—likely died from a car robbery gone wrong.

The Travis County District Attorney’s office and Infowars have been contacted for comment via email.

Why It Matters

The death of White, 36, has attracted widespread attention, both because of his association with Infowars, and claims by its founder Jones that the killing was politically motivated murder. Despite officials stating there is no evidence to support such claims, the case has nonetheless fueled speculation among Jones’ supporters.

What To Know

At approximately 11:56 p.m, officers “responded to the call of a shooting at the Chandelier Apartments located at 2336 Douglas Street,” according to a statement by the Austin Police Department (APD).

They discovered White lying on the ground of the parking lot, with apparent trauma to his body. They transported him to hospital, however he was pronounced dead at 12:19 a.m. on March 10.

“Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The initial investigation shows that White was shot and killed in the parking lot of the apartment complex in which he lived. The suspects then fled the scene. Detectives believe the suspects were possibly burglarizing White’s vehicle, when he interrupted them,” said the police statement.

In June 2024, White posted to X, formerly Twitter: “I’m on the Ukrainian ‘Enemies List’ due to my work at Infowars and with Alex Jones on the Ukraine proxy war The group who compiled this list is tied to the U.S. State Dept, USAID, CIA and George Soros”

He included a screenshot of his name and his social media handles on a website, but did not provide a link to the website, the name of the website, or any identifying details about what this so-called ‘hit list’ was, who wrote it, and where it came from.

White was likely referring the open-sourced database of persons deemed to have promoted anti-Ukrainian narratives or acted to destabilize Ukraine’s national security created by the Ukranian NGO “Center for Research of Elements of Crimes against the National Security of Ukraine, Peace, Humanity, and the International Law.”

This list is not a ‘kill list’ or a ‘hit list,’ and is created by an independent nonprofit which receives no state funding.

Jones is perhaps best known for lying about the Sandy Hook shooting and having to pay $1.5 billion to the victims’ families for his false claims.

In this case, he has stopped short of blaming Ukraine outright for White’s death, but has made several videos and interview appearances in which he stressed that White was on a Ukrainian ‘hit list’ for investigating the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and George Soros.

At the end of an X video on the death of his colleague, Jones also tries to sell coins and supplements which are on his website.

Jones claimed in a six-minute video that White was doing research for years into USAID and George Soros.

He said: “We’re not saying that they did it. But since they did put him on a hit list, have a spokesperson say they would come after him and Elon Musk and Senator Hawley … you have to say it might not just have just been gangbangers [sic.]. Probably was.”

Jones continues to go after George Soros in the video, claiming that Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza is a “Soros DA.” There is no evidence tying Soros to Garza.

Soros has become a target for antisemitic language over the years, as people have tried to tie him to the conspiracy of Jewish people controlling politics, money, and power.

Jones also goes on in the video to claim that other Infowars writers are being targeted.

In a later part of the video, Jones says his “counterrevolution” against the “globalist antihuman revolution” is succeeding due to his website, Infowars. He then directs his supporters to one of his websites to buy “exclusive fundraiser coins,” and nutrients.

Infowars was put up for sale to cover Jones’ bankruptcy costs last year. It was briefly bought by satirical site, The Onion. However, a federal bankruptcy judge overruled the sale, and gave the site back to Jones.

What People Are Saying

Alex Jones: “The murder of anyone is terrible, but the murder of a journalist is always extremely suspicious especially when the Ukrainian government had put him on a hit list for simply stating facts that they were stealing a lot of taxpayer money.”

District Attorney Garza told the Austin American Statesman: “Our hearts go out to the family of Jamie White. It is shameful, but not surprising, that Alex Jones is trying to exploit the victims’ death for political gain. However, we will not let Jones distract us from our work in seeking justice for Mr. White and supporting the Austin Police Department in its investigation.”

What Happens Next

White’s death is being investigated as a homicide by the APD. They have asked for anybody who may have had their car broken into in the same area that night to submit information to the police via their evidence request portal.
