Alysa Liu Sends First Message Since Returning to the USA After Olympic Gold
Alysa Liu might not have slept in the past week.
The double gold medalist from the recent Winter Olympic Games has been on a run of a lifetime, going from 200,000 followers to over 5 million on Instagram in less than three weeks.
After winning the gold medal in the women’s individual figure skating competition, the first Team USA woman to do so in 24 years, Liu has been on a nonstop media tour across every platform possible.
From social media to broadcast to newspapers, it’s been difficult to go a day without seeing Liu’s haoled hair and confident smile donning some sort of major headline.
But finally, after all the excitement and action from the Olympic venues to the Olympic Village, Liu made it back home to California in the middle of the week.

While she left the Olympics behind in Milan, she did not leave it all there. In her first public message since returning to the United States, Liu posted on her now-ever-populated Instagram a photo of her in the back of a car, with a tremendous amount of Team USA gear she packed into the tiny vehicle.
Alysa’s close friend, who helped pick her up from the airport, illustrated the entire ordeal on TikTok as they pushed and pulled all the things Liu brought back from Europe to fit inside the automobile without it overflowing.
Liu’s teammate, Amber Glenn, was quick to give her friend some advice about how to showcase all of the new items she received in Europe, telling her to get some shelves as soon as possible.
For the first time in months, Liu can now take some downtime and regroup with her friends and family, but not for too long. She will attempt to defend her title at the World Championships in Prague in March, where Glenn will be one of her rivals.
