Miley Cyrus’ brother Trace Cyrus made headlines by writing on Instagram about how he used to idolize his father, Billy Ray Cyrus. But Miley, 32, is staying out of the family drama and focusing on her own idol: The Last Showgirl star, Pamela Anderson.

The “Flowers” singer sat down for a conversation with Anderson, 57, to discuss the film and the song Miley contributed to the soundtrack. Anderson expressed her love for the song, “Beautiful That Way,” and Miley quickly expressed her admiration for the Baywatch icon. “Ever since I was little, […] when people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grow up, I would say you,” the “Used to be Young” singer said. “That’s all I wanted to do, I wanted to be a showgirl! And so I love watching you evolve, ‘cuz it’s inspiring me so much.”

Miley and Pamela also bonded over the fact that they’ve had many “pivots and different evolutions” throughout their careers. But as Miley said, “it always ends up coming back around to make the next stage of who we are. Something that’s more potent, something that’s more real.” Anderson agreed, adding, “sometimes you need to go do a little research, then come back to your path.” She continued by saying that although The Last Showgirl was a challenging film, she hasn’t even “scratched the surface” or what she can do in the future.

Miley gave a shoutout to her mom, Tish Cyrus, when talking about seeing Anderson on Broadway when she played the lead role in Chicago. While explaining that she accepted a project because “I knew they would get me the plane to go [to New York] to see you,” she enthused, “Anything to get me to Pam! Me and Tish will be there, front row.”

Viewers on YouTube were delighted by the video. “I need like 2 weeks of these two just hanging out and queening out. They both raised us,” wrote one commenter. “When worlds collide 🫂 talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique,” raved another. “I get vibes they’re like BFFs IRL 😆” wrote a third fan.
