Baby Girl With Full Head of Hair, Viewers Can’t Cope With Update 3 Years On

A baby from Manchester, England, was born with thick, brown hair, but no one can believe what she looks like now.

Her mom, 27-year-old Sophie Karis Jones (@sophiekarisjones) shared a post on TikTok of her daughter, Harlow Emilia, at just 1 day old with a head full of hair. The text overlay read: “She’s only 1 day old, her hair will fall out soon.” It didn’t.

“I had an inkling that she would have hair,” Jones told Newsweek. “I was also born with lots of hair and, during one of my scans, the sonographer actually pointed out some white lines on her head and told me it was hair.”

By the time Harlow Emilia was 2 months old, Jones, who also shares 1-year-old Otis with partner Christopher, realized her daughter’s thick hair wasn’t going anywhere.

“It’s quite common for a baby to lose its newborn hair,” Jones said. “I just assumed that maybe she’d lose some of the thickness; however, when she got to 2 months and it was still growing, I knew that it would be here to stay.”

By 6 months old, Harlow Emilia’s hair was long enough to tie up in a tiny topknot. Strangers would even stop Jones and her daughter in the street to look at the baby’s unusually long locks.

As the weeks turned into months, Harlow Emilia’s hair began to change. What started as a deep brown began to transform into a striking shade of red. “It was amazing seeing the colors come out,” her mom said. “It was almost like it had highlighted at the hairdressers.”

Now 3, Harlow Emilia has long and thick fiery red hair. Jones said her daughter inherited the texture from her, a naturally mid-dark blonde with dense hair, while the color comes from Christopher who is a natural redhead.

The mom shared a photo of herself at 1 month old with Newsweek “to give an insight on where she may have got the hair.”

The post has gone viral on TikTok, amassing over 1.3 million views. Users couldn’t get enough of the updates in the comments.

“She has the most glorious red hair! So blessed,” one user wrote.

“Never let her color it, it’s gorgeous,” another added.

A third even compared Harlow Emilia to the princess character in Disney’s Tangled.

“The reaction has been amazing,” mom Jones said. “So many people have commented to compliment her. You will always get the odd person who has to say something negative about her hair color; however, I think it makes it even better, as do thousands of others!”
