The Los Angeles Dodgers took down the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-1, during Game 2 of the World Series, but there was a brief interruption.
After the annual Stand Up To Cancer presentation, presented by Mastercard, where all fans, players, and even broadcasters stand up holding signs of loved ones they know that have been affected by cancer, many expected the game to continue as scheduled. A similar display is done during the All-Star Game, and has grown to become a touching moment during some of the most-viewed moments of the MLB season.

As the display came to a close, many fans expected to head back into the sixth inning of an intense 1-1 pitchers’ duel. Instead, the Jonas Brothers performed, and the internet was unhappy, to say the least.

Many joked that the elongated pause helped give the Dodgers what they needed to eventually overtake the Blue Jays and secure the game.
After a scoreless sixth inning from both teams, the Dodgers came alive in the seventh as All-Star catcher Will Smith launched a solo home run, and slugging third baseman Max Muncy hit a solo shot of his own.
Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman, who had retired 17 batters in a row up until allowing the Smith home run, was then pulled from the game. Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto, however, would go the distance.
His illustrious complete-game gem featured eight strikeouts, no walks, four hits, and one earned run. It was also his second consecutive complete game during this postseason run, something that hasn’t been seen in October since Curt Schilling did so in 2001.
Perhaps the concert helped the Dodgers, but more likely than not, both teams knew that there would be a presentation in the middle of the game. As for the fans watching from home, the surprise made for some comedic posts online.
