Bills Predicted to Battle for Sean McDermott Replacement With AFC Team
The Buffalo Bills are on the market for a new head coach ever since they fired Sean McDermott after their divisional round loss to the Denver Broncos. There are some thinking that Broncos QB coach and passing game coordinator Davis Webb is the perfect fit. However, some believe that the Bills may not be the only team competing for Webb. NFL insider Adam Schefter believes that the Las Vegas Raiders could battle with the Buffalo Bills for Davis Webb.
“I think in a perfect world, the Raiders would like a young offensive mind as their head coach,” said Schefter on the “The Pat McAfee Show”. The Raiders are more than likely going to select Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, so getting a young offensive mind like Webb to grow alongside Mendoza is an interesting talking point.

Webb has been under Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton his entire career. He started his coaching career in 2023 as the quarterbacks coach. After leading Bo Nix to being a finalist for 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year, he was promoted to the QB coach and passing game coordinator.
The Las Vegas Raiders are in desperate need of a good quarterback. Mendoza would be the first quarterback the Raiders have spent a first-round pick on since JaMarcus Russell in 2007, and since the team released Derek Carr, who is the franchise leader in passing yards (35,222) and touchdowns (217), the Raiders have had a bottom 10 scoring offense each of the last three years. In 2023, the Raiders had the 23rd ranked scoring offense (19.5 points per game), 2024’s was 29th(18.2 ppg), and 2025 was 32nd (14.2 ppg).
Safe to say, the Raiders need to develop Fernando Mendoza. They have some strong weapons to work with; 2025 first-round running back Ashton Jeanty showed promise, 2024 tight end Brock Bowers was an All-Pro tight end in his rookie year, and wide receiver Tre Tucker had 696 yards on the year.
