Blake Lively’s Secret Text Revealed In Justin Baldoni Lawsuit

Actress Blake Lively described her co-star Justin Baldoni as a “creep” who should keep his tongue to himself, a text revealed in her lawsuit against him has revealed.

Why It Matters

The intensely bitter dispute between Lively and Baldoni have given a valuable insight into Hollywood and its attempts to bury negative publicity using teams of public relations specialists.

The texts, emails and heated discussions would not have been known publicly if it wasn’t for Lively’s lawsuit and Baldoni’s counter-suit.

Newsweek sought email comment from attorneys representing Lively, Baldoni and Jamie Heath on Wednesday.

What To Know

The dispute originates with the filming of It Ends With Us, which was adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel about domestic abuse.

Released in August 2024, the film was a box office success, with revenue of more than $350m globally.

Lively is suing Baldoni in New York for sexual harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, defamation and other claims.

Baldoni, who directed and starred in It Ends With Us, is counter-suing Lively for defamation, breach of contract and other claims.

In an amended complaint filed in Manhattan federal court on February 18, Lively revealed a text she sent to a friend in which she claimed that Baldoni and the film’s producer, Jamie Heath, were harassing her.

In a text sent on May 24, 2023, Lively told another woman who was a mutual friend of Baldoni and Heath: “I was gonna invite you to set tomorrow. These people. Whoa.”

The other woman then wrote back to her and Lively responded: “It’s like HR nuts today. The both of them. I wasn’t expecting that turn. I mean it’s been present but today I came home and cried.”

Further in the exchange, Lively describes Baldoni and Heath as “creeps . . . Like keep your hormones to yourselves. This is not mine. I don’t want it. I don’t want you gaze or words or tongue or videos of your naked wife. Yeah. It’s shocking. Clowns.”

Lively was referencing a video Baldoni allegedly shared on his phone of his wife giving birth.

The amended lawsuit alleges that on the same day, Lively and a female cast member “discussed how they were both feeling uneasy on set that day.”

“Ms. Lively confided that she felt ‘like [she needs] to say something tonight after wrap’ but that she’s ‘not sure how to navigate it,’ to which her cast member responded by offering words of support,” the amended lawsuit alleges.

What People Are Saying

In a lawsuit Baldoni filed in January against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, Baldoni’s lawyers claim Lively is involved in a “duplicitous attempt to destroy” him.

Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, said in that lawsuit that Lively has disseminated “grossly edited, unsubstantiated, new and doctored information to the media” and has “attempted to bulldoze reputations and livelihoods for heinously selfish reasons.”

What Happens Next

The court will allow Baldoni to reply to the amended complaint and will then move to pre-trial motions in the case. Baldoni’s counterclaim is also progressing through the federal court system.
