Blockbuster Dodgers-Reds Trade Would Bolster LA With Breakout Star Andrew Abbott
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
The Cincinnati Reds could potentially look to trade starting pitcher Andrew Abbott when Rhett Lowder returns from injury this season. Beyond Lowder, the Reds have prospects Chase Burns and Chase Petty surging up the minor leagues.
Since returning from injury, Abbott has made two starts and allowed just two runs. The lefty has struck out 16 batters in 11 innings so far.
One team that could send the Reds an offer for Abbott that Cincinnati couldn’t refuse is the Los Angeles Dodgers. Los Angeles is currently experiencing some serious injury issues in its starting rotation.

Here’s a hypothetical deal that could get the trade done to send Abbott to the Dodgers:
- Los Angeles Dodgers receive: LHP Andrew Abbott
- Cincinnati Reds receive: C/OF Dalton Rushing, OF Eduardo Quintero, LHP Justin Wrobleski
Abbott is a potential ace who’s already proved to be a solid innings-eater. He’s under team control for quite a long time. The Dodgers could add him to the roster as a consistent piece of an injury-plagued rotation for the next few years.
The return would be enough to steal Abbott from the Reds. Dalton Rushing could step into the Reds’ lineup right now as a potential star outfielder. He has the potential to be a huge bat once he gets the chance to play every day.
Eduardo Quintero is a young outfield prospect with a lot of potential. Justin Wrobleski isn’t nearly the pitching prospect that Abbott is, but he could step into Abbott’s place in Cincinnati until Lowder is ready to return.
This deal would work for both sides. The Dodgers need to add a pitcher, and the Reds have a controllable guy to part ways with.
