Blue Ivy, 12, Looks Identical to Mom Beyoncé on Red Carpet
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Blue Ivy Carter just made a rare appearance on the red carpet looking just like her mother.
On Monday, December 9, the 12-year-old arrived at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood for the premiere of her first-ever film, Mufasa: The Lion King, looking every bit the star in a custom metallic gold gown by Christian Siriano. As she posed on the carpet, she was joined by her parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
The gown featured a voluminous skirt, which she paired with gold earrings and subtle rings. Her makeup matched the outfit’s gold vibe and included gold shadow, rosy cheeks, and a red lip.
Blue Ivy’s appearance was a special moment for her proud mother, Beyoncé, who took to social media to express her love and admiration. In an Instagram post on Monday, December 9, Beyoncé shared two photos of Blue on the red carpet captioned, “My gorgeous baby girl, this is your night. You worked hard, and you did such a beautiful job as the voice of Kiara. Your family could not be prouder. Keep shining.”
The post racked up tons of comments from friends and fans alike. Khloé Kardashian gushed, “She is gorgeous!! Such a special moment ✨✨✨✨,” while actress Tracy Ellis Ross commented, “Beautiful.”
Others praised the “Single Ladies” singer on her job raising Blue Ivy. “🥹🥹 thank you for always teaching her resilience, letting her go and shine on her night. She looks so gorgeous we are so proud of you blue,” said one user. Another jokingly added, “I’m emotional because this is the longest caption you’ve ever written B anddd look how much she’s grownnnn. 🥹”
Beyoncé, 43, and Jay-Z, 55, supported their eldest daughter at the event along with Bey’s mom, Tina Knowles. The iconic singer followed the gold memo in a strapless gold Balmain gown which coordinated perfectly with her daughter’s look, while dad Jay-Z donned a chocolate brown suit. Grandma Tina, 70, kept it elegant in a black off-the-shoulder pantsuit
Blue Ivy voices Kiara, the oldest daughter of Queen Nala, in the new movie – which is set to hit theaters on December 20. Beyoncé similarly voiced Nala in The Lion King live-action prequel back in 2019. The young actress has already shown off her dancing talents on her mother’s Renaissance tour and made appearances at high-profile events like the 2024 Grammy Awards and Super Bowl.
The couple gave birth to Blue Ivy in January 2012, followed by twins Sir and Rumi, born in 2017.
