Braves-Dodgers Trade Idea Gives Atlanta New Options at Multiple Positions
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
The early-season struggles of the Atlanta Braves have been a bit shocking for almost all Major League Baseball fans. The Braves have become a staple in the postseason, and they have one of the best lineups in all of baseball.
Atlanta is currently without its right fielder and former MVP Ronald Acuna Jr., who is expected back sometime in the coming months. It will be a much-needed return and spark.
While Atlanta awaits the return of its MVP, Athlon Sports’ Zach Lentz has projected a trade between the Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers that would send outfielder James Outman and starting pitcher Bobby Miller to Atlanta.

Outman would be an instant boost to a Braves outfield that is tied for last in the major leagues in Wins Above Average (-1.8) at the outfield positions. Atlanta has gotten little production from Michael Harris, Bryan De La Cruz, Eli White and Jarred Kelenic in the outfield.
In his one full season at the big-league level, Outman batted .248 with 23 home runs and 16 doubles. That earned him a third-place finish in the 2023 Rookie of the Year voting. Outman has nowhere to play on a stacked Dodgers roster, and a move to Atlanta could allow him to get every day at-bats while the Braves await the return of Acuna.
Much like Outman, Miller does not have much of a place in the Dodgers rotation and a move to Atlanta would allow for more opportunities to get on the mound and showcase the talent that helped him pitch to a 3.76 ERA in 22 appearances in his rookie season.
A change of scenery for both Miller and Outman could be instrumental in their careers and it could allow both to show they still have the talent to compete with the best baseball players in the world.
