Brewers Predicted To Land Lefty Slugger To Bolster Offense With Playoff Race Heating Up

The Milwaukee Brewers are in a position to chase down the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central with the trade deadline fast approaching. Stephen J. Nesbitt of The Athletic predicts the Brewers to pick up slugging third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies.

The Rockies are on pace to top last season’s Chicago White Sox for the most losses in a single season and are presumably going to sell off any valuable assets at the trade deadline. One of those assets is their third baseman.
McMahon was an All-Star last season and has hit 20 or more home runs in four consecutive seasons, and has hit 13 this season. McMahon is under contract until 2028, and despite his drop in production, has shown flashes of being a middle-of-the-order power bat.
The Brewers’ pitching staff got reinforcements when rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski made his debut, and now it would seem that it is the offense’s turn. Despite being toward the top of the league in runs scored, they rank No. 23 in home runs hit, and adding a power threat like McMahon to their ranks would add some danger to their lineup.
The Brewers are preparing to make a climb up the standings and secure themselves a playoff spot during the final stretch of the season. If the Brewers add McMahon, they could improve their chances of chasing down the Chicago Cubs for the division crown once again.
