Bride Needs Treatment for Lung Condition at Her Own Wedding, Hailed ‘Queen’

A woman’s ability to multitask should never be underestimated, and one Generation Z bride showed exactly why as she refused to let cystic fibrosis get in the way of her wedding.

On June 13, 2025, Dannika Evans tied the knot to her now-husband, Bo Evans, at a stunning ceremony in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As any couple knows, there were challenges along the way, but Dannika also had the added factor of her cystic fibrosis, which she was diagnosed with at the age of 6.

While Dannika woke up early on the day to do her treatments before the ceremony, she also needed to make some time to do them again during the reception. Instead of taking time out of the wedding, Dannika, 20, decided to do the treatments while also dancing with all her guests, telling Newsweek it was “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Dannika shared a video on TikTok (@dannikaspam) of the moment she danced excitedly with her guests while also using her nebulizer.

“I woke up extra early and did treatments in the morning, and then I took time out of our wedding dance to do treatments,” Dannika said. “I’m used to having to do treatments morning and night, so this was just another one.”

Since the footage was shared on TikTok on February 1, it has gone viral with over 1.4 million views and more than 66,500 likes at the time of writing. Dannika’s refusal to let her health ruin the big day has amazed internet users, leading many to applaud her resilience.

The caption alongside the TikTok video jokes that cystic fibrosis “doesn’t stop no party.”

“I think it’s important to show people that you can keep yourself healthy while living the amazing life you’re blessed with. My post blew up on TikTok and lots of the comments are from other people with cystic fibrosis, or parents of those who have it. I love to see how many people are just like me out there,” Dannika said.

Dannika has the DeltaF508 gene mutation, which is one of the most-common causes of cystic fibrosis. Although she was born with the mutation, Dannika was 6 years old before her condition was diagnosed.

Cystic fibrosis causes thick mucus to build up in the body, which can damage the lungs, pancreas and other organs. It can make breathing difficult, meaning that some of the treatment involves clearing the airways through breathing techniques and with medication. Airway clearance vests, such as what Dannika used, work by vibrating to loosen the mucus on the chest.

There is no cure for cystic fibrosis, and individuals must do lifelong treatments to manage it—even on their wedding day.

Dannika hopes her experience will inspire others and show that a health condition doesn’t have to stop somebody from having a fulfilling life. She will never forget looking out and seeing all her loved ones dancing and cheering her on while she administered her treatment.

“This is a good reminder that you’re not only doing treatments for yourself, but for everyone around that loves you and wants to be around you as long as they possibly can. You’re doing them for your future, future children, friends, and, most importantly, your family,” Dannika said.

Social media users can’t get enough of Dannika’s determination to keep dancing, leading to 140 comments on the TikTok post so far.

One comment reads: “This is Queen behavior…no hurdles get in the way of your joy.”

Another TikTok user wrote: “The beauty in this is seeing your friends and family with you, cheering you on and hyping you up!”

A third person said: “This is true joy that cannot be stopped. Congrats on your wedding and living it up!”

One commenter joked: “the show must go on.”
