The Cleveland Browns watched as two standout rookie performers, linebacker Carson Schwesinger and running back Quinshon Judkins, each left the field during the team’s 19-point blowout loss on the road against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
As gutting as that was, the team received uplifting news on each player Monday indicating that neither injury was as serious as initially thought. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network had both reports, which he posted to social media.
“The MRI confirmed a high-ankle sprain, but not believed to be a major one,” Rapoport wrote of Schwesinger, who was looking at between four and six weeks out in a worst-case scenario. “Carson Schwesinger will be re-evaluated after the bye to see when he might play.”

Schwesinger, the No. 33 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, stepped into a starting role immediately in place of injured star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who suffered a neck injury during the middle of last season that will keep him out for the entire 2025 campaign.
Rapoport also offered a positive update on Judkins, who left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury
“#Browns standout rookie RB Quinshon Judkins suffered an AC joint sprain in his shoulder and is considered day-to-day,” Rapoport wrote. “Cleveland has a bye next week.”
Judkins has been a critical piece to an offense that has done next to nothing through the air with either Joe Flacco or Dillon Gabriel under center.
Despite missing the season opener, Judkins has tallied 486 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 118 carries (4.1 yards per attempt). He has also caught 12 passes for 60 yards.
Cleveland next takes the field against the New York Jets on November 9 at MetLife Stadium.
