Browns Insider Rips Into Shedeur Sanders After Speeding Incident

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been one of the most talked about players in the NFL since the team traded up to select him in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

After originally being projected to be a first or second round pick, Sanders’ slide to the fifth round was one of the worst in league history. Despite the slide, he has been motivated to earn playing time and prove that the teams who repeatedly passed on him made a huge mistake.

While things have looked good on the field for Sanders so far since being drafted, he is now in the news for an off-the-field mistake.

According to a report from Fox 8, Sanders was pulled over for going 101 miles per hour. The speed limit where he was driving was 70 miles per hour.

“According to Strongsville police records, an officer stopped Sanders on 71 North around 12:24 a.m. on June 17,” the report read. “A report states Sanders was driving 101 mph, 41 miles over the posted speed limit.”

Following the news of Sanders’ speeding incident, a Browns’ insider has spoken out with a very critical take about the rookie’s decision-making. Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com also offered words of warning to Sanders after his mistake.

“Sanders, who can fight the ticket or pay the $250 fine, still could’ve killed himself or someone else at that speed, and he’s lucky no one got hurt. It’s why this incident should be an enormous wakeup call for him,” Cabot said. “The Browns are evaluating everything their players do, and the citation goes on the minus side of the ledger. Speeding is one thing, but going 40 mph over the speed limit on a highway after midnight — during rookie orientation — is another.”

Cabot did share that she does not expect Cleveland to carry out any form of punishment against its rookie quarterback.

Sanders has been involved in a four-man competition for the starting quarterback job. He has been battling with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.

It has been expected that Flacco or Pickett will win the Week 1 job. However, many believe that Sanders will find his way onto the field at some point during his first NFL season.

Hopefully, he does learn from this situation. He made a very poor decision, but can better himself because of it. If he wants to see the field with the Browns, he’ll need to keep himself out of trouble both on and off the field moving forward.
