The BYU Cougars concluded their regular season Saturday night with a big 82–76 home victory over the No. 10 Texas Tech Red Raiders.
BYU was led by guard Rob Wright III, who recorded 27 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while true freshman AJ Dybantsa added 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
Dybantsa also made some history in the process just days before the Big 12 Tournament and the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.
BYU noted that he scored 20 or more points for the 24th time this season, tying him for the fifth-most in a single season in program history with Danny Ainge (1980–81) and Tyler Haws (2014–15).

He has also scored at least 10 points in all 31 games this season, tying for the 14th-most double-digit scoring games in a single season in program history.
He is currently averaging 24.7 points per game — the best mark in the nation — along with 6.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
That 31-game streak of scoring in double figures will now continue to be put to the test in tournament play. The Cougars are currently slated as a No. 10 seed in the Big 12 Tournament and will take the floor again Tuesday night against the Kansas State Wildcats.
Looking ahead to March Madness, Joe Lunardi of ESPN currently projects BYU as a No. 7 seed in his latest bracketology. That projection would pit the Cougars against a No. 10 seed in the opening round, which Lunardi currently has as the Texas A&M Aggies men’s basketball heading into Sunday.
