Cade Cunningham’s Playing Status for Pistons–Hawks Revealed

The Detroit Pistons are back on the court on Tuesday night, looking to keep their hot streak alive. Although they’ve managed to win some games without the star guard, Cade Cunningham, the Pistons hoped to get him back soon.

When Detroit released its initial injury report on Tuesday afternoon, Cunningham was upgraded to questionable once again. As he continues dealing with a hip contusion, the Pistons have been hesitant to roll out the dynamic guard as long as he’s not one-hundred percent healthy.

On the road in Atlanta, the Pistons were hopeful of seeing Cunningham’s return.

At the start of the year, Cunningham was coming off a hot season, which included an All-Star appearance for the first time. The pressure was on, and at first, Cunningham was struggling with his shooting and taking care of the ball. Once he reached the fifth game of the season, there was a turnaround.

A 30-point scoring outburst against the Orlando Magic, matched with a 10-assist double-double with zero turnovers, gave Pistons fans a glimpse of what they missed early on. It turned out that was just the start of Cunningham bouncing back and getting on a path to another All-Star appearance.

Unfortunately, there’s been a pause. Cunningham hasn’t seen the court since November 10, when the Pistons closed out a back-to-back with an overtime win over the Washington Wizards. In that game, Cunningham scored 46 points while securing the triple-double with 11 assists and 12 rebounds.

Over the past three games, Cunningham has been off the court for Detroit. They managed to go 3-0 during that stretch.

The Pistons currently hold the Eastern Conference’s top seed with a 12-2 record. They are in the midst of a league-leading 10-game winning streak, with their latest loss happening on October 27.

On Tuesday, the Pistons are set to battle with the Hawks at 7:30 PM ET.
