Car Bomb Kills at Least 15 in Northern Syria, Dozens Injured
A car bomb exploded Monday on the outskirts of the northern Syrian city of Manbij, killing at least 15 people and wounding dozens more, according to local civil defense officials and a war monitor.
The blast occurred next to a vehicle carrying agricultural workers, killing 14 women and one man, the local Syrian civil defense reported. Another 15 women sustained injuries, some critically. However, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported a higher toll, stating that 18 women and one man were killed in the attack.
Manbij, located in northeastern Aleppo province, remains a volatile area despite the official end of President Bashar Assad’s rule in December. The region continues to witness violent clashes between Turkish-backed Syrian National Army factions and the U.S.-backed Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.
Monday’s bombing follows another deadly attack in Manbij just two days earlier, when a car bomb killed four civilians and wounded nine others, according to Syria’s state news agency SANA, citing civil defense officials.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks.
