Cat Owner Adopts Kitten, Shock Over What They See Next Day
The unexpected display of affection between two cats who had only just met has melted the hearts of viewers on Reddit.
The pets’ owner, who goes by u/nessaleigh, had taken to the social-media platform on October 13 to share an image of the two felines snuggling up closely on a bed, despite having only met a few hours earlier. Viewers were able to see an orange cat curling up to a black-and-white spotted feline on a soft blanket. Both animals were pictured with their eyes closed, in a deep, peaceful snooze together.
“Can you believe they just met yesterday?” an accompanying text read. “We just adopted Miguel and brought him home yesterday. Nemo instantly loved him and has been the sweetest big bro. I’m so amazed that they are already best friends.”
The post has been upvoted more than 11,000 times to date, sparking a flurry of heartfelt comments from viewers who felt moved by how quickly the duo were able to get acquainted.
Nemo and Miguel’s owner later shared another image of the new siblings in the comments section. In this picture, the pair were captured cuddling up in the same spot, facing each other similarly to how humans do. That image has been upvoted more than 900 times.
The owner told viewers that they already had an older cat, named Arlo, who apparently “likes his space,” which created some tension with energetic Nemo, who was always keen to initiate play. “Now everyone is happy,” the owner added.
“It’s like Nemo is holding his little head,” one viewer said, while another added: “Your cat needed a cat!”
“OMG [oh my God] that’s amazing,” a third posted. “Such a sweet boy!”
“Cuddling too!!!! I’m so happy for you!! They’re going to be besties,” a fourth commented.
“That is too cute,” one viewer said. “I’ve had two that have lived together for 12 years and they still hate each other.”
“Instant best buds,” another added.
“Exactly! I knew it could happen but I’m in shock at how quickly they bonded,” the pets’ owners responded.
“You mean ‘Nemo just adopted Miguel,'” one comment read. “Match made in heaven! Now wait for the first fight,” another added, in similar humor.
