Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has resumed his elite form this NFL season; through eight games, he leads the league in passing touchdowns (17), ranks second in passing yards (2,099), and third in QBR (76.3), completing 67% of his passes.
He’s also led the Chiefs to win five of their last six games and sits as the odds-on favorite to win league MVP.
Next up, however, comes arguably the Chiefs’ biggest test yet, a rivalry game against the Buffalo Bills (5-2) at Highmark Stadium.
Mahomes was asked by local reporters on Wednesday whether he enjoys playing in Buffalo and what the environment is like.
“I mean, they don’t like us,” Mahomes said. “They do not like the Chiefs. But it is a cool environment, I love playing in historic stadiums, and that stadium has had so many great players. And who knows, it may be the last time that we get the opportunity to play there.
“It will be a great challenge for us; they’re loud, and that’s what you want. You want to go in and be in a hostile environment,” Mahomes added.

Buffalo rebounded from a two-game skid with a 40-9 rout over the Carolina Panthers in Week 8, led by running back James Cook’s 216 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, doing enough to win the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Coming into their matchup against Kansas City, Buffalo leads the league in rushing yards (164.4 per game), ranks third in total yards (382.9 per game), and fourth in points (29.6).
In contrast, the Chiefs rank fifth in total yards (378.3 per game) and seventh in scoring (26.8), though they also have the second-best scoring defense in the NFL, allowing just 16.4 points per game.
The matchup renews an intense rivalry: Kansas City beat Buffalo in the AFC Championship earlier this year, while the Bills hold the regular-season edge at 4-1 in the Mahomes-Josh Allen era, and the Chiefs lead the series 4-0 in the playoffs.
Kansas City arrives as 1.5-point favorites on the road with a 52.5-point over/under, one of the highest totals of the week.
It’s always one of the most explosive, highly anticipated games of the NFL season, and Sunday’s contest should be no different.
