Senate Minority Leader Democrat Chuck Schumer was taken to the hospital on Wednesday to be treated for dehydration, his office said in a statement.
The statement from Schumer’s office, posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Fox News senior congressional correspondent Chad Pergram, read: “Leader Schumer was at the Senate gym this morning and got lightheaded. Out of an abundance of caution, he went to the hospital to be treated for dehydration and is now back at work in the Capitol.”
“He wants to remind everyone to drink some water and stay out of the heat,” the statement ended.
Newsweek reached out to Schumer’s office via email for comment on Wednesday.
Last week, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was taken to the hospital via ambulance “out of an abundance of caution” due to an allergic reaction.
This is a developing story and will be updated when more information is available.
