Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are in the midst of a disappointing 3-6 college football campaign, fresh off a 52-17 loss to the Arizona Wildcats this past Saturday.
The previous weekend, the Buffaloes suffered another blowout loss to an unranked opponent — falling to the Utah Utes with a 52-7 final score in Salt Lake City.
Clearly the team needs to make some serious changes if they want to turn their 2025 season around.
Sanders broke the team’s typical rhythm leading up to Saturday’s matchup against the West Virginia Mountaineers, preventing players and assistant coaches from speaking with the media.
According to team insider Brian Howell, this decision is almost unprecedented.
“After not making any players available to media after the loss to Arizona on Saturday, Colorado isn’t providing any players or assistant coaches to media this week leading up to the game at West Virginia. Not sure if that’s ever happened during my time on the #cubuffs beat,” Howell reported on X.

Colorado threw three interceptions, lost two fumbles and committed 14 penalties in its blowout loss to Arizona this past weekend.
Quarterback Kaidon Salter was benched in favor of sophomore signal caller Ryan Staub, who was also quickly benched after throwing two interceptions on two pass attempts. Freshman QB Julian Lewis played most of the second half and has already been named the starter for Saturday’s matchup against West Virginia.
Sanders wants all the criticism directed at himself as his team attempts to get its season back on track.
“Don’t attack the coordinators. Come at me. Don’t attack the players. Come at me,” Sanders said after the Arizona loss.

Colorado has lost four of its last five games. The team’s last win came with a 24-17 final score over the No. 22 Iowa State Cyclones on Oct. 11.
Saturday’s matchup against West Virginia will kickoff at noon ET.
