Concerning Eagles, Jalen Hurts Report Emerges Amid Philly’s Frustration
The Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl hangover is harrowing.
With reports lingering about several stars’ displeasure with the offense all season, The Athletic’s Michael Silver dropped a damning expose on Jalen Hurts becoming the subject of a rift in Philadelphia.

According to a Jan. 16 report from Silver, Hurts “has been the source of much international frustration,” but the team’s braintrust of coach Nick Sirianni, general manager Howie Roseman and owner Jeffrey Lurie are “reluctant” to criticize their $255 million quarterback.
The decision not to retain offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo has created a vacuum of controversy in Philadelphia, as the Eagles’ offense, despite returning 10 of 11 starters from its Super Bowl-winning roster a year ago, ranked 19th in scoring this season.

Star receiver A.J. Brown’s frustration with the offense was a forefront story all season. Whispers behind the scenes pointed at Hurts being the source of the problem.
Plenty has been written about Hurts’ limitations as a quarterback, including a lack of willingness to operate from under center (though Philly did that more in 2025), an aversion to pre-snap motion, an inability to make quick post-snap reads and a reluctance to attempt intermediate and in-breaking passes. He also ran the ball less this season, which lessened his impact as a dual threat,” Silver wrote. “Some of these issues may have been a function of scheme and play calling, but Hurts needs to be pushed beyond his comfort zone.”

While Hurts has operated the offense at a high level and led the team to two Super Bowl appearances, this year’s offense stalling out against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC wild-card round has put a spotlight on the offense’s struggles to exploit and execute at times this season.
How the Eagles address the offensive issues could have the final say in Brown’s future after he requested a trade during the season, according to Silver.
