Couple Decide to Start Day Pre-Baby Wake-Up, Dad Has Visible Regrets
Parenting takes tiredness to a whole new level especially if you’re trying to wake up before your baby does to reclaim some time for yourself.
A couple decided to give this a shot and wake up at 6 a.m. to have some peace before their work day starts and before their baby wakes up. Parents Saraida and Jalen Eaux from Dallas are building this new habit together, but it seems like Jalen is having regrets embarking on this new challenge.
In a TikTok video, which has already garnered over 315,000 views, posted on March 25 under the username @eauxfamily, Jalen looks like he’s particularly struggling with their new wake-up time. As Saraida films him in his robe, a tired-looking Jalen hands her a cup of coffee, sits down next to her and says, “Oh Lord” as Saraida laughs.
The video’s text overlay reads: “My husband and I decided to start waking up at 6am. We work from home so we typically wake up when our baby wakes up just before work. You can tell he’s taking it pretty hard. Why does he look like an old man like this?!”
Newsweek has reached out to @eauxfamily via TikTok for comment.

Comments from other TikTok users chimed in, with one writing: “He sat down like an old man too,” while another added: “The ‘oooo lawd’ was something serious.”
Saraida responded to the latter comment in the comments section and wrote, “he’s an old Louisiana man before 8AM.”
Other parents shared their experience of waking up purposefully before their baby does and offered encouragement to the couple. One TikTok user wrote: “For the past 2 weeks I’ve been up at 5:30am and went from dreading it to loving it! Keep going you’ll enjoy this time so much!”
Saraida replied and agreed this new tactic is very strategic.
Balancing a new baby and maintaining your relationship requires effort and planning so by creating this pre-work ritual, the couple can feel both valued and connected. By engaging in simple activities together such as cooking meals, taking walks or doing a shared hobby, planning mini trips away and sharing responsibilities, new parents can ensure their relationship remains strong and healthy.
Nighttime feeds can be a big disruption for both parents, so Saraida and Jalen are truly facing the brunt of sleep deprivation together and utilizing the quiet time in the morning to focus on each other.
Hopefully they’ll start to feel more chipper after that cup of Joe!
