Couple Feed Stray Puppy on Vacation—No One Ready for How Story Unfolds
A couple who started feeding a stray puppy on vacation have melted hearts with the adorable adoption journey that ensued.
A U.K. couple who went on a vacation to Greece several years ago were looking forward to the gorgeous sights and tourist hotspots they were going to experience. What they didn’t count on however was falling in love with a street dog they met during the trip. They instantly started feeding her, and it was hard to deny the impact she had in such a short amount of time.
Indeed, before returning home, the couple knew they had to adopt her permanently. They filled out the paperwork and got all the necessary documents in order to transport the dog, who they named Dora, back to the U.K.
Now, Dora is living her best life and thriving in her forever home.

Her breed remains unclear, as a DNA test revealed that she’s “more or less every dog” imaginable, according to her owner. Nonetheless, her breed makes no difference as her owners love her regardless.
Her owners have even created a dedicated TikTok account (@doraandjerrytherescues) where they document her antics since beginning this next chapter of her life. A recent post about the decision to adopt Dora while on vacation has gone viral with over 370,900 views and more than 38,800 likes at the time of writing.
Newsweek has contacted @doraandjerrytherescues via TikTok for comment. We could not verify the details.
Animal charity Friends of the Strays of Greece explains that adopting a street dog isn’t a simple process and can take weeks. They recommend not leaving the decision until the last minute because it’s not always a swift or straightforward process.
Advice from the charity is not to take strays back to your hotel or let it follow you around. Tourists shouldn’t feed strays that look well because they aren’t all abandoned, and it may indeed have someone that takes care of it already. However, when you do feed a stray, it should only be given appropriate food—not bread or cow milk as they don’t digest it well.
The viral TikTok post included several photos of Dora enjoying the many home comforts, such as her own bed and blankets, soft carpets, and toys of her own. The pictures also showed her playing in the back yard, splashing in a paddling pool, going running with her dad, and enjoying the sand on her paws at the beach.
The TikTok caption alongside the post adds that her owners “found a forever bestie.”

Dora went from living on the streets, to a life of luxury and happiness, and the internet couldn’t be happier for her. In just a matter of days, the TikTok slideshow has generated over 1,500 comments as social media users praised her owners for giving Dora a second chance at life.
One comment on the post reads: “my heart cannot cope.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “The smile!! She’s found her forever home.”
Another person replied: “That smile says it all. Thank you for rescuing her.”
While one commenter added: “This honestly made my day, she’s beautiful.”
