Stephen A. Smith has never been shy to say what is on his mind, especially when it comes to making fun of the Dallas Cowboys. Any chance he gets on his youtube show or on ‘First Take’, Smith is going to take a jab at the team and their fans.
However, that doesn’t mean he is totally against the entire Cowboys organization, as he has said in the past that he respects and considers Jerry Jones a true friend.
On Monday,’First Take’ aired live from AT&T Stadium in the morning. Then during the Cowboys’ Monday Night Football game against the Arizona Cardinals, Smith even spent some time with Jones in his suite.
Hanging out with Smith wasn’t the only headline worthy thing that Jones did on Monday. He also gave multiple hints that the Cowboys were being aggressive before tomorrow’s trade deadline, even saying that a deal ‘was already done’.
The Cowboys entered the game at 3-4-1, and are going to be facing a must-win situation nearly every game if they are going to try and get back into an extremely competitive NFC playoff race.
Offense hasn’t been the issue for the Cowboys, as they entered Monday night ranked first in passing yards (263.8 yards), second in total yards (384.1 yards) and second in scoring (30.4 points).
Where the moves need to be done is on the defensive side, as they are in the bottom five in nearly every category. The Cowboys made major headlines right before the season started when they sent superstar defensive end Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and Kenny Clark. Some of the guys that the Cowboys are rumored to be interested in are Logan Wilson and Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals, as well as Miami Dolphins defensive end Bradley Chubb.
Smith will be back on ‘First Take’ on Tuesday, where he will be talking about the potential moves the team makes. Regardless of his friendship with Jones, one thing that is definitely true is that the Cowboys will continue to hear it from ESPN’s No. 1 guy.
The Cowboys will be off in Week 10, and then they will be back in action the following week when they host the Las Vegas Raiders.
