Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Exits the Game With Significant Injury
Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott appears to be dealing with a significant injury and had to enter the blue medical tent.

According to Jane Slater, Prescott is showing some issues with his right hand. Backup quarterback Cooper Rush is now warming up to take over for Prescott.
At the time of this writing, the Cowboys are currently being handily beaten by the Atlanta Falcons, 27-13. Losing Prescott for the rest of the game will be detrimental for the team attempting to work their way back from another loss.
The Cowboys have felt out of sync for weeks, and another loss today would drop the team to a 3-5 record. The issue is that the NFC East is highly competitive, and a couple more losses for Dallas would mean they likely not be able to climb back up to win the division.
The entire NFC is also very competitive, as the entire NFC North has a positive record, among other teams who are angling for a playoff spot. The Cowboys don’t appear to be a team that can compete with the upper-echelon teams.
Prescott has been under pressure all day today, taking three sacks on the day so far. The hits have clearly affected him, as he is now on the sideline with an injury to his throwing hand.
Rush has taken over, and the hope would be that he can get some offense going to help close the gap on the score.
Prescott isn’t the only loss on offense for Week 9. Based on some odd behavioral issues for Ezekiel Elliott, he was a healthy scratch for the game against the Falcons. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy announced that Elliott would also not travel with the team.
Dalvin Cook was elevated for this game and joined Rico Dowdle as the running back who would take over the starting duties for Elliott. At the time of this writing, Dowdle has secured 75 yards on 12 carries. Cook has only secured eight yards on two carries.
The Cowboys cannot afford another loss if they want to stay relevant in the NFC conversation. Though there is plenty of football left to play in 2024, the other competitive teams in the conference are continuing to separate themselves.
The hope would be that Prescott is only dealing with a minimal injury and he can come back soon, but things do not appear that way right now.
