Cowboys Owner Won’t Shut the Door on Maxx Crosby
The Dallas Cowboys were reportedly in the driver’s seat to trade for Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby. The Baltimore Ravens swooped in at the eleventh hour to get him, and the rest is history.
Crosby is back in Las Vegas after a failed physical, and the Cowboys didn’t pursue him again. However, that can always change in the future.
When asked about making a run at Crosby or another defensive star, Cowboys co-owner/EVP Stephen Jones didn’t rule out any possibility:
“We look at a lot of different situations. We look at some that never hit the media, if you will,” Jones said, per Jon Machota. “We’re always looking to make our football team better, and if you find that situation, then we’ll do it.”

Jones added that the Cowboys were just in the early stages of getting to know new defensive coordinator Christian Parker, so they will certainly look to add the type of players he needs to execute his vision:
“We’re really getting to know Christian and what his philosophy is and the type of players that he needs to help him have success on that side of the ball,” Jones continued. “This will continue to evolve, and we’re always looking for ways to get better.”
That said, getting Crosby might no longer be realistic. He’s committed to the Raiders, and they seem more than happy to keep him around after their big spending spree in free agency.
He’s not the type of player teams are actively trying to trade. To the contrary, he’s a vocal leader and someone who can wreck an entire game on his own.
The Cowboys are still looking for a star pass rusher after losing Micah Parsons, and while they’ve already traded for Rashan Gary, they will probably be an active player until the trade deadline.
