Cowboys Star Utters Bold Statement on Jayden Daniels
Last season, one of the biggest storylines in the NFC was the instant breakout from Jayden Daniels. Following an impressive rookie campaign with the Washington Commanders, the young QB continues to receive praise from his peers.
After being taken with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft, the Commanders wasted no time putting Daniels in a starting role. This proved to be a smart decision, as he quickly altered the trajectory of the franchise. Along with throwing for over 3,500 yards and 25 touchdowns, Daniels led Washington all the way to the NFC Championship game.
Coming off such a strong first year in the NFL, the hype around Daniels has quickly skyrocketed. Among the most recent people to give him his flowers is a star-level talent within his own division.

Earlier this week, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs linked up with viral streamer N3on. During his appearance, he was posed with the question of naming his top five quarterbacks in the NFL right now.
Diggs started off by being a loyal teammate and giving Dak Prescott a shoutout. He then went on to put the Commanders’ rising star in the same breath as talents like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson.
“I’m a go Dak,” Diggs said. “Aaron Rodgers, Jayden Daniels, no order. Mahomes, Lamar.”

Diggs giving Jones a shoutout on this list is a testament to Daniels’ perception around the NFL. The Cowboys star is far from the first person to put him in this discussion, as many people in and around the game feel similarly. It’s also worth noting that Diggs put Daniels ahead of reigning league MVP Josh Allen.
In his rookie season, Daniels built a strong foundation to use as a springboard for the rest of his career. He is going to need this positive momentum, as the pressure will be on for him now. Seeing how well he carried the Commanders in year one, Daniels enters the 2025 campaign with a high bar to match.
Along with trying to meet the loft expectations of those around the game, Daniels will also be attempting to avoid the infamous “sophomore slump.” He quickly turned the Commanders into a dark horse contender in the NFC. The last thing the franchise wants to see now is their emerging star take a step backwards in his second season.
As he prepares to follow up his stellar debut, Daniels will strive to continue cementing himself as a top talent at his position.
