Denny Hamlin Speaks Out As Major Joe Gibbs Racing Sponsor Exit Rumors Emerge
Recently, rumors have begun to circulate suggesting the potential end of Denny Hamlin’s long-time partnership with FedEx and Joe Gibbs Racing. FedEx, which has supported Hamlin since his junior racing days, might be concluding its sponsorship due to its broader financial plans to reduce expenditures.
Hamlin, who has worked with FedEx for almost two decades, addressed these rumors stating:
“It’s been a fantastic partnership that we’ve had nearly 20 years. They’re the ones that really took a risk on me when I was just running the Xfinity Series about fifth to eighth every week…that risk paid off for many many years and couldn’t be happier to be aligned with FedEx and certainly I got to do lot of great things off the track as well…
“It’s made my career, it made a lot easier being aligned with someone for that long and we’re gonna continue to represent on and off the racetrack for the time to come.”
Despite the sponsorship uncertainty, Hamlin remains focused on delivering strong performances.
“Certainly, everyone can run fast when they go up by the wall, but can you run fast when you actually have to pass someone and have to go down low. I think our ability and the versatility of our car over the last few years is really what’s made us excel and just the momentum-based type of racing that we have on these mile and a halves. It seems like I’ve adapted to that type of style.”
Speaking about his recent performance at Kansas Speedway, Hamlin commented, as previously reported by Newsweek Sports:
“We should have won the race. We had the fastest car, but every time we get to the top three the caution comes out and we restart 15th, 20th. Can’t show how fast your car is when you’re back of the pack.
“All you can do is just keep making positions back up to the front over and over and over and eventually you just run out of laps and someone else wins.
“I’m not in it mentally, I can tell you that. There’s a lot of wires crossed and bolts loose at the moment. But what can you do? I’ll just do the best I can to drive the car and do my part.”
