Sean “Diddy” Combs has had to cancel a number of events he scheduled for the weeks following his sentencing since he now will be in jail for up to 50 months.
Prosecutors said ahead of the sentencing that Combs’s planned speaking appearances in Miami was the “height of hubris.”

The two-month-long trial against Combs came to a close on Friday with his sentencing for two counts of transportation for prostitution, with the judge giving Combs 50 months in prison on charges related to hiring prostitutes to participate in his now-famous “freak offs.”
While Combs is sentenced to just over four years in prison, it is more likely he will serve two to two-and-a-half years, considering time served and potential time off for good behavior.
Judge Arun Subrahmanian also issued a fine of $500,000 on Combs – the maximum possible for his crime.

Xavier Donaldson, defense attorney for Combs, addressed reports that his client had booked speaking appearances in Miami for next week, seemingly in anticipation of a light sentence. Prosecutors criticized Combs for his “hubris,” but Donaldson clarified that he intended to participate in teaching programs for incarcerated individuals in South Florida—not public appearances, according to The New York Times.
Combs has planned to move back to Miami upon his release.
Brian Steel, another defense attorney for Combs, defended the speaking engagements as “healing for Sean as well as the community.”
The Associated Press described Combs as “subdued” and “dejected” upon hearing his sentencing, with “none of the enthusiasms and smiles he displayed while interacting with this lawyers and family earlier in the day.”

Combs has already spent 12 months in prison since his arrest, and the judge gave him credit for his sentencing based on the time already served. He entered prison in September 2024, which means he faces around three more years in jail to finish out his sentencing.
Prosecutors had tried to secure 11 years of a possible 20 years he could receive for his crime.

Rapper Curtis James Jackson III, better known as 50 Cent, wrote on X: “Hey to whoever was booking Diddy for speaking engagement. I heard he won’t be able to make it,” adding, “I’m available!” and a link to his website.
