Dog Abandoned in Crate, Left on Street—Hearts Break Over What Follows
Hearts have been melted by a rescue dog who still trusts humans so deeply, despite being abandoned in the street by his owners.
After he was put in a travel crate and dumped in the street, it would be understandable for Labubu the rescue dog to be wary around people from now on. Nonetheless, the adorable pup has shown no signs of resentment or mistrust as he immediately settled into his temporary foster home.
Animal lovers Tate Mitchell, 28, and her wife Katie Heinrich, 32, didn’t hesitate to take Labubu in and show him the love he deserves. While Mitchell, of New York City, New York, told Newsweek that Labubu was “super shy and shut down” at first, it certainly didn’t long for him to come out of his shell and show his true personality.
“He’s totally changed and is running the house now,” Mitchell said. “He’s chill, playful and always down for whatever the vibe is.”
Much of the dog’s history remains unclear, and all Mitchell was told was that he was found in the street in February, having been “left in a travel crate” to fend for himself. Labubu is believed to be around 4 years old and has shown just how easygoing he is already.

Mitchell and Heinrich are fostering him until a forever home comes along—which they don’t expect will take too long because Labubu is utterly adorable. He would be the perfect addition to any home.
Labubu’s story was shared on social media by his foster owners (@katieandtatesfostermates on TikTok) to show people just how loving and sweet he is. A video of Labubu cuddling up to his foster owner despite only knowing her for a few hours has gone viral, generating over 118,000 views and 26,200 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.
The caption layered over the adorable footage reads: “POV you were abandoned on the street last week but still trust humans instantly.”
As much as Mitchell and Heinrich would love to keep Labubu for longer, they hope all the online support will transcend into a permanent home for this “incredibly resilient little guy.”
Mitchell told Newsweek: “People fell in love with Labubu the second he was posted online. His story and cuteness have hit deep in the hearts of our viewers. He’s super adaptable and would thrive in any type of home.”
In the days since Labubu’s foster journey was shared on social media, many TikTok users have taken to the comments to praise his strength and ability to trust, leading to more than 590 responses on the viral video so far.
One comment reads: “Amazing how they just accept the next lot of love and cuddles unconditionally.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “Awww he’s just a bundle of love, all he wants is to cuddle and give kisses.”
While another person replied: “Animals are just so forgiving, it’s incredible.”
