Dog’s Reaction To Being Stuck With ‘Weird Cousin’ Has Internet in Stitches
A dog’s reaction to a hilariously awkward encounter with another canine has left viewers online in hysterics.
A 20-second-long TikTok video capturing the interaction was shared to the platform on November 29 by the pet’s owner under @remythegoldendood1215. The clip has charmed millions online due to its depiction of how even pets can appear comically frustrated by the company they keep. The video has garnered more than 2.2 million views and over 310,000 likes to date, turning its canine stars into viral sensations.
The video, filmed in Massachusetts, captures a black dog energetically bouncing around on a couch, trying to coax another dog—Remy, a male golden doodle—into playing. However, Remy sits stoically, displaying a deadpan expression of sheer disinterest in the other dog’s upbeat antics. An overlaid text on the video reads: “When you get stuck with the weird cousin,” perfectly encapsulating the relatable family dynamic.
“Remy is with his ‘cousin’ in the video, he is judging his cousin and his house manners,” Remy’s owner, Jen Holcomb DiMarzo, told Newsweek.
Viewers on TikTok quickly latched onto the video’s charm, with more than 960 sharing their lighthearted interpretations of the scene. Comments ranged from playful quips to outright laughter.
“Not the doodle looking around for an adult,” one viewer commented.
Another added: “The black [Labrador] is like what the fluff this dog ain’t [is not] doggin.”
“One lives out in the country the other lives in NYC,” one comment read.
Another added: “Not hanging with the hood cousin.”
“He’s looking like oh no we don’t do that at my house!!!” one viewer said.
Another commented: “He looking like who child is this.”
“Judgment is LOUD,” a third posted.

Golden doodles, a crossbreed between golden retrievers and poodles, are known for their affectionate and sociable nature. These dogs thrive on companionship and are highly attuned to their human family’s emotions, often seeking support and reassurance through physical closeness when overwhelmed.
Their intelligence and eagerness to please make them not only great companions but also sensitive to their environment, frequently looking to their humans for cues and comfort in unfamiliar or high-energy situations. This trait adds to their strong reputation as gentle and loyal family pets.
On the other hand, high-energy dogs, such as the playful companion in the viral video, often fail to recognize when their enthusiasm is not reciprocated.
“We have been so thrilled being able to bring smiles to so many people with sharing content of Remy,” DiMarzo, 40, said. “He has really brought so many joy into our lives and we love that we can share that.
“We never expected Remy to go viral, but we are having fun on this journey and appreciate all of Remy’s fans!”
