Dolphins Cut Pro Bowl Defender Immediately After ‘MNF’ Loss to Steelers
Just as the Miami Dolphins were building some late-season momentum, winning four straight and pulling to within one game of .500 heading into Week 15, the team fell flat in its “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Miami lost 28-15 in what might have been Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ most efficient since joining the team.
Having already fired general manager Chris Grier midseason, many expect the Dolphins to clean house during the offseason. Star wide receiver Tyreek Hill is expected to be released, and head coach Mike McDaniel is certainly on the hot seat, as is starting QB Tua Tagovailoa.

But the Dolphins didn’t wait until after the season to start getting rid of players. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Miami is releasing a four-time Pro Bowler who will likely have a few playoff teams calling him if he clears waivers.
“Sources: #Dolphins are releasing pass rusher Matthew Judon. He will go on waivers,” Schultz reported on X.

The 33-year-old Judon signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Dolphins during free agency, though he failed to make much of an impact. In 13 games, he totaled 19 tackles, 10 pressures, seven hurries, three QB hits, and one pass defensed with a 4.2% pass-rush win-rate, according to Pro Football Focus.
Though he didn’t contribute much in Miami, Judon is just wo seasons removed from a 15.5-sack year. He has 12.5 the year before that too. In 17 games with the Atlanta Falcons last year, Judon logged 25 pressures, 16 hurries, and 5.5 sacks — so in the right situation, he could have some value to a pass-rush-needy playoff team.
