This season has been a mess for the Miami Dolphins. They dropped to a 1-6 record after suffering a 31-6 drubbing at the hands of the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. It was also a dismal performance for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who threw three interceptions and completed only 12 of 23 pass attempts before being replaced by Quinn Ewers.
Miami lost star wide receiver Tyreek Hill earlier this season when he tore multiple ligaments in his knee, which ended his 2025 season. Now, another one of its offensive starters could be done for the year.
Tight end Darren Waller sustained a pec strain during Sunday’s game, per Josh Moser. He will undergo an MRI to reveal the extent of the injury, and there is a chance that the muscle is torn, which would be a season-ending injury for him.

Waller suffered the injury during the first half of the contest versus the Browns, and he wasn’t targeted even once all day. On the season, he has 12 catches for 117 yards and four touchdowns.
He had already missed the first three games of this season after coming out of retirement and taking some time to get back into football shape. At the time, he hadn’t appeared in a game since Week 18 of the 2023 season.
Miami is also without guard James Daniels and tackle Austin Jackson, both of whom got injured in Week 1. Even worse, the team came into Sunday ranked 29th in points allowed, 30th in total yards allowed, and last in rushing yards allowed.

Because of the team’s struggles, there have been persistent rumors that head coach Mike McDaniel is on the hot seat. It will visit the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday before returning to South Florida for three straight home games leading into its bye week.
