Dolphins Star Running Back Questionable To Return With Hip Injury
Miami Dolphins star running back Raheem Mostert has returned to the field after suffering a hip injury during today’s Week 12 game against the Las Vegas Raiders and briefly ruled as “questionable” to return.

Mostert started in this week’s game against the Raiders, despite a concerning performance the previous week against the Los Angeles Rams. He didn’t record any rushing attempts and caught just two of his three targets for 34 yards.
The current leader in rushing touchdowns for 2023 has now gone scoreless in his last two games. Head coach Mike McDaniel has expressed frustration with the costly fumbles, and with Miami’s record sitting at 3-6, the team has little room for error moving forward this season.
The RB later admitted he was “down” about not getting a rushing attempt against the Rams and said that he and head coach Mike McDaniel had discussed the matter.
“I can’t get into detail but it was a good talk,” Mostert said. “I’m happy we were able to talk it out. I’m excited to play the Raiders.” Mostert played only eight offensive snaps against the Rams and caught two passes for 34 yards.
“It was a little down for me,” he said of his emotional reaction to not getting a rushing attempt for the first time in his Dolphins career. “But it was also a learning tool. It told me a lot about myself and the mental fortitude you have to have to not get a carry as a running back, but at the same time, try to be effective in the passing game. I didn’t know what the game plan was in regards to me getting a carry or not.”
He mentioned that the Dolphins didn’t directly tell him he didn’t get a carry because of the costly fumbles he had against the Colts and Bills in recent weeks, but he suspects that was the reason.

Mostert went undrafted in 2015 and had brief stints with several teams before finding success with the San Francisco 49ers. Mostert’s breakout came in the 2019 season, when he rushed for 220 yards and 4 touchdowns in the NFC Championship, helping the 49ers reach Super Bowl LIV.
He later joined the Miami Dolphins in 2022, continuing to be a key contributor. A versatile back, Mostert has accumulated over 3,500 rushing yards and 25+ touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the league’s most explosive running backs.
