White House senior counselor Peter Navarro rejected suggestions that President Donald Trump’s tariffs would drag the U.S. economy into recession, and touted forthcoming tax cuts as the reason.
“I guarantee no recession. Why? Because when we pass the biggest, broadest tax cut in history within a matter of months, that’s going to be a great stimulus,” Trump aide for trade Navarro told Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Monday night.
Markets have suffered sharp losses since Trump unveiled sweeping tariffs against U.S. trading partners all over the world, many of whom said they will respond with their own countermeasures.
