Doorbell Camera Captures Moment Man Accidentally Reveals Wife’s Secret

A man expecting his first child with his wife accidentally spilled the beans to a friend, with the entire interaction caught on camera.

Noah Benjamins, 33, lives in California and recently shared the news with friends and family that he and his wife, who chose not to give her name, are set to become parents for the first time.

“We had wanted to start trying to have a baby and thought it would take some time,” Benjamins, who has been with his wife since 2016 and wed her in 2024, told Newsweek.

“Turns out, it only took about three months—a surprise for us and our family and friends!”

As part of their pregnancy announcement, Benjamins allowed his sister, Sophie, to share the moment he accidentally let slip the happy news early on in the pregnancy, in a video to her TikTok account @kimmy_egg_draws on December 28.

In the viral clip, viewed over 5 million times and captured on a doorbell camera, Benjamins and Stephanie walk into the house in mid-conversation, as Stephanie asks if Benjamins’ wife is sick.

To which he replies without thinking: “No, she has morning sickness like—” he stops, but it’s too late, as Stephanie picks up on it instantly, asking “why does she have morning sickness?”

Benjamins has frozen, and Stephanie again knows intuitively, “is this a secret?” and he confirms it is—and the pair then go into the house in peals of laughter.

He shared the background to the video with Newsweek, explaining Stephanie is a close long-time friend, and he and his wife had recently “cancelled a big camping trip with her, her husband, and some other friends.”

“My wife was still in her first trimester and having horrible morning sickness, and decided an RV was not going to be the most comfortable place for her at that time,” he said, and the couple decided they would tell their friends they had accidentally double-booked plans that weekend.

But instead, when Stephanie, who is on TikTok under the username @winemama26, asked if Benjamins’ wife was sick, the truth all came tumbling out.

“Stephanie is our only friend who already has a baby so she was very quick to pick up on my slipup and was extremely excited that there was going to be another baby in the friend group,” he said.

And while Stephanie “did keep the secret,” she couldn’t help but instantly congratulate his wife—but “catching it all on camera softened the scolding I got from my wife.”

Because, he said, “she said she thought it was really sweet that I couldn’t think of a lie!”

Expecting couples choose different times to announce their pregnancy. Common milestones for announcements include the first prenatal appointment between 8 and 10 weeks, after the first trimester at 13 weeks, or after the first standard ultrasound exam at 18 to 22 weeks, according to Pampers.

TikTok users were in stitches at the video, with one pointing out: “Freezing is so funny, it’s like it didn’t happen if you freeze.”

“The way he malfunctioned trying to think of a way out,” another laughed, while one praised Stephanie, who “had his back immediately.”

And as one put it: “Her secret is safe. Not with him…but possibly with you.”

Benjamins, who posts to TikTok under the username @N0ahkn0wsbest, told Newsweek they knew the video was funny, “but I didn’t think it was going to get the attention it got.”

“The overwhelming amount of positive comments was really touching, especially in a world where so much trolling and negativity occurs,” he said. “It seemed like people were genuinely happy for us and enjoyed my little slipup.”

He added: “So many people had a similar story from their husbands, and I was glad to know I’m not the only one—I just happened to be one of the few caught on camera!”
