Eagles Get Unfortunate Jalen Carter Injury Update vs Chargers
Jalen Carter will miss the Philadelphia Eagles’ next matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Carter recently underwent a procedure on both of his shoulders. Now that he is in the recovery phase, undergoing treatment on both sides, he is going to miss the Eagles’ Monday Night Football matchup against the AFC contenders out of LA.
Per Schefter’s report, Carter is going to be considered week-to-week. While the NFL insider makes it clear that Carter’s absence could “easily” be a multi-week concern—the Eagles aren’t going to put a long-term timeline on his absence. He could be back as early as next week’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Losing Carter is a massive blow for the Eagles, although he hasn’t been the best version of himself as of late. The standout defensive tackle is one of the most dominant players at the position and is a major presence on the Eagles’ front line on the defensive side of the ball.
However, Carter’s numbers are down this season. Through 10 games, he has just two sacks on the year. His first sack didn’t occur until Week 6 against the New York Giants. His second sack came on Black Friday, when the Eagles matched up against the Chicago Bears.

Through 10 games, Carter has registered 32 tackles. Just four went for a loss. He also landed 11 hits on the quarterback, and deflected six passes, with two of them coming against the Bears last week.
The Eagles have a tough matchup against the 8-4 Chargers this week. They are looking to get back in the winner’s column after taking on two straight losses, falling short against the Bears and the Cowboys. After taking on several concerning injuries last week, the Eagles are sure to be without Carter in Los Angeles.
