Eagles Legend Donovan McNabb Provides Insight on Jalen Hurts, Nick Sirianni Relationship

The Philadelphia Eagles will look to come out with vengeance once the new season kicks off next week. The Eagles didn’t finish their 2023 season as they had hoped, but now all that is in the rearview mirror.

The Eagles will look to take back the NFC East crown and make another deep push in the playoffs. While football is the ultimate team game, like for many teams, it starts and ends with the head coach and quarterback, and that is no different from the Eagles, led by Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni.
Sirianni and Hurts will continue to be the engines that drive this team and will be vital to its success this upcoming season. Not only is that a fact, but it’s one that former Philadelphia Eagles great and Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb shares.
In a recent interview with LA Sports Report, McNabb spoke on the Eagles and said the relationship between the quarterback and his coach, especially for Philadelphia, will be critical to their success.

“It’s a bond, a chemistry, and also longevity — something a lot of people don’t understand,” McNabb said. “You go through a year of ups and downs, then the next year, in the offseason, you’re talking about corrections, ideas going into the draft and free agency, what you need on offense, adding pieces on both sides of the ball. It’s a communication process over six, seven, eight years. The head coach calls a play, you cut him off, you already know what he’s thinking. That trust is built. That’s the franchise quarterback, where the organization has trust in him because the chemistry continues to grow.”
McNabb also added that a lot will be on Sirianni’s plate this season, who he believes didn’t receive the necessary flak he deserved for their second-half downfall.
“Winning cures everything,” McNabb said. “Sad that the coordinators took the blame for turmoil and losses. Now Nick Sirianni takes the weight. He’s a good guy from my conversations. For their relationship, everything changes for the better. They need to focus on improvement and consistency.”
The Eagles got lost last season, which was evident in the second half of the season. Everything seemed right in the 2022 season when the team went 14-3 and appeared in Super Bowl 57.
In 2023, that was not the case, and the Eagles were not the same team many expected them to be. That season should, and it appears that it is all behind them.
A lot of eyes will be on Sirianni and Hurts. We’ll see if they can live up to the expectations they have for this season and win yet another division title.
