Face of Dog Watching Her Puppies Get Adopted: ‘Moms Always Get Left Behind’
While it is easy to celebrate pet adoptions, one video left people heartbroken as a dog watched her pups all get their forever homes before her.
In a recent video posted by TikTok user @petrescuesolutions, a dog named Demi happily watched as people quickly adopted her puppies from California-based Pet Rescue Solutions. She seemed to know that her babies were going to their forever homes and on a path to a better life than how it started.
A representative from the nonprofit Pet Rescue Solutions told Newsweek that Demi, a wirehaired terrier mix, was found in the middle of the road, refusing to leave her deceased puppy’s side.
“An Amazon driver was the only one who stopped, scooping up Demi and her two surviving babies and bringing them to us,” the person said. “We couldn’t turn them away.”

The rescue organization welcomed Demi and her pups into their care. Her babies quickly found loving homes, but sweet Demi’s happy ending hasn’t come to fruition yet. While thrilled about the adoptions, the rescue found Demi slowly losing hope.
She thought she was being forgotten and left behind, which unfortunately often happens to older dogs. Demi is still considered a young dog; however, puppies are typically adopted first.
Potential families view puppies as a blank slate with which they can form a bond and socialize early. Plus, a younger pup usually means a longer time together.
“Moms always get left behind,” the video’s caption said.
The rescue is still “holding onto hope” for Demi, noting that she’s a playful, affectionate and gentle dog.
“She’s been through so much—now she just needs someone to show her forever love,” the rescue said.
Demi is still listed as available for adoption on the rescue’s website. Those interested in Demi or another pet can fill out an online application.
Viewer Reactions
Hopeful that the power of social media would work in Demi’s favor, TikTok viewers flooded the comment section. As of Thursday, the clip had amassed over 8,000 views and 984 likes.
“Come on. Tiktok do ur thing..let’s get this mama a furever home..she has a lot of life to live,” said one viewer.
A second wrote: “So heart breaking! I hope she finds a home!”
Another person commented: “Demi is precious. prayers and love fur her to find a furever loving home.”
