Fan Says Carl Edwards Should Sue Daniel Hemric Over ‘Copyrighted’ Backflip
Fans have been talking about Daniel Hemric’s stunning celebratory backflip after he won his first NASCAR Truck Series race at Martinsville. Hemric earned his victory after passing Ty Majeski, Corey Heim, and Kaden Honeycutt. He then performed the Carl Edwards-style stunt, which prompted a fan to joke that Edwards should sue Hemric for copyright.
Edwards, who retired after the 2016 season, was popular for celebrating NASCAR victories with backflip celebrations. Hemric raced to the finish line in his #19 truck, the team’s third consecutive victory at Martinsville.
Revealing his intention of finishing a clean race at Martinsville, he said:

“We found a way there at the end. I wanted to race Tyler, obviously, we’ve got a long season ahead and wanted to race him as clean as I could. I walked out of here twice thinking there’s a missing spot in my dining room for a clock. So, it’s cool to finally get one here. … This truck’s now three for three here, this exact same chassis. … I said I wanted to come back here, not come back here to get back anywhere, just come back here to win to stay humble. Just enjoy this journey, man. I’m so thankful for this path I’ve been on.”
Hemric then pulled off a clean backflip as fans cheered in the background.
Some reactions from fans on X are mentioned below:
We agree with this fan. It was a great backflip!
Cousin Carl would be proud of that flip! 😎

Very cool indeed.
Another fan is on point.
I hope he wins when cousin Carl is calling races so he can be around to see it

Hemric’s NASCAR career is what one would call offbeat. He competed in the Cup Series in 2019 but moved on to the Xfinity Series shortly after and won the 2021 championship.
He was back with a Cup Series team in 2024, only to part ways. Fortunately for Hemric, he secured a spot in the Truck Series this year and seems happy to be where he is.
Hemric and his team won a $50,000 bonus as part of the Triple Truck Challenge, making the eventful Martinsville race day a lot more memorable.
