Former AEW Star Wins Championship at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2025
On Saturday, WWE presented NXT Halloween Havoc 2025, featuring multiple championships on the line. In several of the early results, those championships stayed in place; however, an AEW star, now with WWE, captured her first-ever championship in the company.
Earlier this week, fans learned that the NXT Women’s North American Champion, Sol Ruca, suffered a leg injury, which meant she couldn’t defend her title at Halloween Havoc. Due to that unfortunate circumstance, her friend and tag team partner, Zaria, opted to replace her in the match against Blake Monroe.

Early in the match, Blake strategically went after Zaria’s arm, but Zaria still fought her off. She also managed to get out of an armbar attempt by Blake.
A big spot occurred when the two competitors were outside the ring, and Blake accidentally knocked into Sol’s crutch, causing her to fall. After a bit of in-ring action, Zaria went out to check on her friend, and Blake grabbed her for a Glamour Shot DDT.
Back inside the ring, Blake delivered a second Glamour Shot DDT on Zaria and pinned her to become the new Women’s North American Champion.

WWE shared several pieces of footage, including highlights from the match’s frantic finish. As seen in the video clip, Zaria is stalking Blake outside the ring, and Blake trips over one of Sol’s crutches, causing her to fall to the ground.
Zaria returned to the ring to beat up Blake and clothesline her down, then hesitated from further attacking her so she could leave the ring to check on Sol. That allowed Blake to sneak up for the DDT to gain the advantage.
After the match, WWE shared a video clip of Blake celebrating her big championship win, as she posed from the ring corner while fans applauded and cheered.
Meanwhile, Zaria and Sol looked dejected while seated outside the ring. WWE questioned if the outcome might have caused issues for NXT’s ZaRuca moving forward.
That officially ends Sol’s reign as the NXT Women’s North American Champion at 189 days, which is the longest anyone has held the championship. As of this writing, she still holds the WWE Women’s Speed Championship.
Blake previously appeared as Mariah May in Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling (AEW). While there, she won the AEW Women’s World Championship once.
Her NXT win suggests bigger things are on the way in her career. Several stars who previously won a North American Championship went on to win the major championships on NXT.
Earlier in the event, Ethan Page successfully pinned El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. in a Day of the Dead match to hold onto his NXT North American Championship. Another match saw Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater defeat Mr. Iguana and La Parka via pinfall.
Several other championship matches were on the NXT Halloween Havoc card, including Jacy Jayne defending the NXT Women’s Championship against Tatum Paxley and Ricky Saints defending the NXT Championship against Trick Williams.
