Former QB Drops Major Pittsburgh Steelers Theory Regarding Rodgers, Wilson
The Pittsburgh Steelers are still in waiting mode when it comes to future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. It seems that the franchise has gone all-in on its pursuit of Rodgers.
While he could be the piece that powers the Steelers back to Super Bowl contention, there are some who think Pittsburgh is making a mistake by waiting so long for Rodgers to make a decision.
One of those people is none other than former NFL quarterback and current analyst Chase Daniel.

During a segment on “The Facility,” Daniel spoke out and revealed his theory about the situation that Pittsburgh finds itself in.

“I don’t think anyone in their career right now needs Aaron Rodgers, if I’m being completely honest with you, including the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Daniel said. “Look Tomlin has himself in a little bit of a conundrum because he offered Sam Darnold, that was his number one choice I think, didn’t get him. Justin Fields, didn’t get him. They’ve pissed Russell Wilson off by making him his fourth choice.”
He continued on, revealing his thoughts on what the Steelers should do.
“Aaron Rogers is a third choice and now holding the Steelers franchise hostage because they can’t go out and sign Russell because they don’t want Russell, but they need Russell, but Aaron Rogers is waiting. And we’re all waiting on them because Aaron Rogers is waiting on the Vikings. So I don’t think that Tomlin needs Aaron Rogers. I personally don’t know if an Aaron Rodgers gets you to the Super Bowl.”
Daniel makes some good points. It’s possible that Pittsburgh could wait on Rodgers, lose out on Wilson, and then see Rodgers choose to sign with the Minnesota Vikings instead.

At this point in the offseason, the Steelers need to be careful. They cannot afford to head into the 2025 season with Mason Rudolph or a rookie that they pick at No. 21 overall as their top quarterback.
It’s possible that Shedeur Sanders could fall to them at No. 21. That would be a dream scenario. However, that isn’t the most likely scenario.
The draw of Rodgers is understandable. He’s a future Hall of Famer for a reason. With DK Metcalf and George Pickens, he could put together a massive season.
All of that being said, Pittsburgh needs to make sure it gets a quarterback. Bringing Wilson back would still be a very good option and might even be a better fit than Rodgers at the end of the day.
