Former WWE Star Calls Out Triple H for Disrespecting John Cena

After WWE held its final “Monday Night Raw” for John Cena in his hometown of Boston, chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque drew backlash from a former WWE star and company employee.

Cena is currently on his retirement tour, heading towards next month’s “Saturday Night’s Main Event,” where he’ll appear in his final match before bidding farewell to WWE. On Monday’s WWE Raw, he won the Intercontinental Championship from Dominik Mysterio, marking the first time in Cena’s career he’d won that title, which officially made him a grand slam champion during his WWE career.

The huge episode of Raw began with Triple H in the ring to discuss Cena’s significance, before introducing him to the fans. Everyone then became fired up as Cena spoke about what the area and the fans have meant to him, before Dom went to the ring to interrupt, and Triple H ultimately set up that championship match.

On Wednesday, former WWE and WCW writer Vince Russo spoke with former WWE star Stevie Richards and professional wrestler Bin Hamlin on his YouTube show about Triple H’s disrespect toward Cena’s big moment in Boston.

Russo commented that Triple H didn’t need to stay in the ring with Cena, and the CCO was making it all about his involvement, rather than just letting Cena have the ring to himself and address the fans in Boston.

In a fiery rant, Russo said that Triple needed to “step [his] big nose a** out of the freaking ring” instead of staying there for Cena’s moment.

“This is so out of character for this guy,” Richards joked, suggesting that Triple H still needs to “get his moment.”

“That’s a wrestler’s thing. That’s a respect thing,” Russo added.

Richards called Triple H’s involvement in Cena’s moment “very symbolic of never wanting to pass the torch to the guy that had the torch anyways,” adding that Dom should’ve “called an audible” and told Triple H, “You don’t even wrestle” and to get out of the ring.

Bin Hamin called it “huge disrespect” on Triple H’s part to remain in the ring, also adding that Triple H made sure he got his face in between the standoff that Cena and Dom had in the ring.

While Triple H initially received a lot of credit for how great things were going with WWE, that sentiment has seemingly turned against him, based on the booking of Cena’s retirement, among other things.

Also mentioned during Russo’s show was that Boston fans felt disrespected that WWE didn’t make TD Garden the venue for Cena’s final match on “Saturday Night’s Main Event.” That final match takes place on Saturday, Dec. 13, in Washington, D.C., as the location ultimately had more money for WWE to host Cena’s final appearance.
