Fox Host Says Luigi Mangione Will Get ‘Annihilated’ in Jail, Told to ‘Stop’

A Fox News host said that the man taken into custody in connection with the shooting of the UnitedHealthcare CEO will get “annihilated” in jail, before being told to stop by a co-host.

Brian Thompson, 50, was fatally shot outside the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday. The suspect fled the scene following the shooting.

Luigi Mangione, 26, was taken into custody at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Monday after customers recognized him as the suspected gunman.

Mangione faces gun charges in Pennsylvania, but he has not been charged in the killing yet.

Jesse Watters, a political commentator on Fox News, discussed whether Mangione is “ready” to go to prison during an episode of The Five on Monday.

“This guy’s not ready,” Watters said. “He’s way too soft. He’s going to get annihilated on the inside.”

Watters said if Mangione is not sentenced to death, “maybe someone will do him justice behind bars.”

“You should stop there,” former judge Jeanine Pirro told Watters after his remarks.

Who is Luigi Mangione?

Mangione graduated valedictorian of his class from Gilman School, a private school in Maryland, in 2016.

“This is deeply distressing news on top of an already awful situation. Our hearts go out to everyone affected,” Gilman School Head of School Henry P.A. Smyth said in an email.

Mangione graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 2020.

Officials found Mangione with a two-page handwritten manifesto that criticized the healthcare industry.

“These parasites had it coming,” he wrote in the document, a police official who has seen the document told CNN.

Mangione was also carrying a fake New Jersey ID that matched the one used to book a hostel in New York and a “ghost gun” with a suppressor that matched the description of the one used in the shooting.

He was arraigned on the gun charges at a court in Pennsylvania on Monday.

“We are deeply saddened and shocked at the passing of our dear friend and colleague Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare,” UnitedHealth Group said in a statement on Wednesday. “Brian was a highly respected colleague and friend to all who worked with him. We are working closely with the New York Police Department and ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Our hearts go out to Brian’s family and all who were close to him.”
