Gavin Newsom’s Team Mocks Trump With ‘Biggest Crowd in Texas History’ Post
California Governor Gavin Newsom’s team has continued to mock President Donald Trump on social media, this time highlighting the size of a crowd at a Democrat rally in Texas.
“WOW! GAVIN NEWSOM HAS THE BIGGEST CROWD IN TEXAS HISTORY! DOZY DON IS FURIOUS!!!,” Izzy Gardon, director of communications for Newsom, wrote in a post on X.
Why It Matters
Newsom and his office have frequently used social media to mock Trump and his administration, often posting in all caps to satirize the president and his MAGA supporters. These posts have become a recurring feature of the governor’s communications strategy, blending political commentary with humor to engage his audience online. Newsom, who is widely regarded as a potential 2028 presidential contender, has indicated that he plans to make a decision about a possible run after the midterm elections.

What To Know
Newsom addressed Democrats in Houston on Saturday, urging party members to focus on regaining political power in 2026 and 2028 as he returned to a key battleground in the national debate over redistricting.
“You didn’t just have your backs here, you had our backs in the state of California,” Newsom told the crowd. “We were looking for a fight, not only that we can win, but a fight worth fighting for. And that is why I’m here.”
The rally follows the passage of Proposition 50, backed by Newsom, which redraws California’s congressional boundaries in a way that analysts say could help Democrats gain up to five House seats in next year’s midterm elections. Approved statewide with nearly 65 percent of the vote, the new map is expected to create additional Democratic-leaning districts, potentially offsetting Republican-favoring redistricting efforts in Texas and other states.
After Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a new congressional map in August designed to maximize Republican representation in Washington, D.C., following pressure from Trump, Newsom pushed forward with California’s redistricting efforts.
Democrats in Virginia are pursuing efforts to redraw congressional districts in their favor, while lawmakers in New York and Colorado have also discussed similar plans. Earlier this week, Newsom encouraged these blue states to consider taking action.
GOP lawmakers in red states are squaring off against progressives in a gerrymandering arms race. In 2025, Republican-controlled legislatures in North Carolina, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, and Florida are pursuing changes to congressional maps aimed at strengthening Republican representation in Congress.
With Republicans currently holding a 219-213 majority in the House, even small changes to congressional district boundaries could have a significant impact on the 2026 elections.
What People Are Saying
Representative Al Green, a Texas Democrat, said at a rally on Saturday: “I am here today because he [Newsom] is the future president of the United States of America.”
White House director of communications Steven Cheung wrote in a post on X on October 30: “Gavin Newsom will never be president. He wants to drag this country back to our darkest days. The gold shall remain. The ballroom shall stand. The peace deals will continue. And the legacy of President Trump will endure for the rest of history.”
