George Russell Misses Press Conference Due to Medical Reasons After F1 Miami GP

Following an impressive podium finish at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, Mercedes driver George Russell was absent from the press conference after the humid race for medical reasons, according to Mercedes.
The British driver secured third place after a gruelling Miami race at the International Autodrome. Finishing behind the McLaren drivers, race winner Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, he was ecstatic with his performance. For Piastri, he claimed his third consecutive win in Florida.
This is also Russell’s fourth top-three finish so far this season, with 2025 looking to be another strong year for the team leader.
“Really happy to come away with P3,” Russell said in the post-race interview ahead of the conference. “I’ve been struggling this weekend personally and always on the back foot.

“Ultimately when it mattered I got a really good result. Well done to the McLarens. They are just down the road.”
He was further asked about holding off an onslaught of attacks from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
“I was pretty calm. I felt really good in the car to keep him behind me.
“I think Lando’s a big upset with me because we had a little crash in the Lego race this morning!” he joked.
Russell will not be attending the conference due to medical reasons. This has been confirmed by the Brackley team but his medical condition is yet to be disclosed. This writer would assume that it is due to the sheer temperature of Miami with track temperature hitting mid-40s today. Following the race, he was pouring water over himself in an attempt to cool himself down.
According to Sky Sports, the driver was feeling sick during the last 10 laps of the race. Mercedes has confirmed that the driver had stomach cramps following the race.
“The top three drivers’ press conference has just taken place but George Russell was not there, we understand due to medical reasons,” Sky Sports wrote.
In the meantime, Red Bull has launched a protest against Russell for allegedly not slowing down under the yellow flag conditions.
This story will be updated as we learn more.
