Ghislaine Maxwell Responds to GOP Asking Her to Testify Over Epstein
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorney has said that if she agrees to testify in front of the House of Representatives Oversight Committee she would do so “truthfully.”
David Oscar Markus told the BBC that Maxwell will decide whether to respond to the congressional subpoena following her meeting with the Department of Justice (DOJ), which is due to take place in the coming days.
“She is taking this one step at a time,” Markus said.
Maxwell, a longtime associate of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in facilitating his abuse.
The House of Representatives Oversight Committee has subpoenaed Maxwell to testify remotely from prison on August 11, amid intensifying backlash over the Trump administration’s refusal to release documents related to the case.
