Giants’ Brian Daboll Placed on Brutal List After Rough Start

The New York Giants moving on from Brian Daboll right now wouldn’t make much sense, unless the team goes on a historically bad run over the next few weeks. Week 5 wasn’t kind to the Giants, as they lost to a below-average New Orleans Saints team.

Coming into the year, many expected the Giants to struggle, but after beating the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4, the hope was that the confidence would carry over into Week 5 and they’d take down New Orleans.

With rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart potentially being the answer for the Giants, a lot of how he plays will likely come down to Daboll’s future in New York. Until then, the noise could get loud. That’s why Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report believes he’s on the hot seat ahead of the trade deadline.

“Daboll’s seat likely got a little cooler when he benched Russell Wilson in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart. He should get a little time to show what he can do with “his” quarterback, after all.

“However, the good vibes of Dart’s first start—and the Giants’ first 2025 win—are already fading. New York just lost to the previously winless New Orleans Saints while mustering a mere 14 points,” Knox wrote.

If Dart doesn’t show any promise of being a long-term franchise quarterback this year, it might be fair to move on from Daboll. However, if he shows any signs of life, given that this is Daboll’s first quarterback that he was able to hand-pick, it’d be a wise idea to keep him around.

There have been some disappointing years for the Giants, but the first step is finding a franchise quarterback. If they can do that with Dart, Daboll should be given some grace and allowed to keep his job.
