Goldberg Fuels WWE Return Rumors By Threatening Champion
At WWE Bad Blood 2024, fans were delighted to see professional wrestling legend Bill Goldberg sitting in the crowd with his wife, Wanda, and his son, Gage.
One person who wasn’t happy to see the WCW icon return was current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.
“You might have seen, a few weeks ago, when I said to Bret [Hart] that you’re a childhood hero of mine,” Gunther said. “That’s not true.”
“I mean, let’s be realistic. How can the greatest wrestler on the Earth right now be impressed with a one-trick pony like you?”
Gunther then directed his ire toward Gage, prompting Goldberg to jump the barrier and threaten to attack the Ring General.
While this matter seemed resolved, it has prompted rumors of a potential Goldberg return to WWE, with even Triple H saying, “Thanks for coming to [WWE Bad Blood], Goldberg. We’ll talk more very soon…”
Now, Goldberg has fueled these rumors even more after he called out Gunther once again.
In a recent episode of his “CarCast” podcast, Goldberg commented on the segment and responded to Gunther.
“I should have known,” Goldberg said. “I should have known somebody was going to try and mess with me. In Atlanta, no less. We were having a great time. Gunther, I don’t want to make anything more of it than it was, but [groans]. You know me, I’m not going to sit there and let some dude talk s—. Period. End of story.”
“What started out to be an innocent attendance of a pay-per-view turned out to being insulted by one of their current champions. I don’t care where we were, I would have done the same thing anywhere.”
“It being Atlanta, my adopted hometown, I ain’t dead yet. As long as I’m breathing, don’t ever talk shit about me, especially my family. When he brought Gage into it and me being a dad, that was it. It was nothing more than that.”

Naturally, this has fans excited that Goldberg could potentially make an in-ring return to face Gunther, possibly for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Since his debut at WCW in 1997, Goldberg has been a fixture of the main event scene. In fact, his last match was at Elimination Chamber 2022 against Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.
Throughout his illustrious career, Goldberg has been a WCW World Heavyweight Champion, a WWE World Heavyweight Champion, a WCW United States Heavyweight Champion (twice), and a WWE Universal Champion (twice).
In 2018, Goldberg was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
